A New Partnership Supports Global Laboratory Projects in Brazil

SUNY Oswego students doing research in Brazil's Pantanal region.

New $5,000 scholarships, available for up to 15 students, support travel to Brazil to take part in hands-on learning through our Global Laboratory project. The funding, provided by Banco Santander through its U.S. subsidiary of Sovereign Bank, is available to students and faculty from any SUNY school.

This $5,000 scholarship will cover airfare, accommodation and stipends for students taking part in designed six- to eight-week projects in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields hosted by research university partners in Brazil. Potential projects include exploring the wetland ecology of the Pantanal region, drug development from medicinal plants, condensed matter physics, comparative health care systems, software engineering or development of solar energy cells.

Interested students should contact cleane.medeiros@oswego.edu or shashi.kanbur@oswego.edu for information on the STEM projects and the Office of International Education and Programs (atintled@oswego.edu or 315.312.2118) for program information and scholarship applications.
