Date: Wednesday, May 3
Time: 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Presenter: Daniela Rosario
Location: MCC 242
Many times we are willing to be support systems for each other but we just don't know how. This workshop will focus on diversity in the classroom and the impacts it has on those with marginalized identities. We'll discuss what faculty can do to create classroom environments that embrace diversity in its many forms, and foster inclusive learning and collaborative growth for all.

Daniela Rosario is a Senior from Brentwood, Long Island. She is scheduled to graduate this May as a double major in Graphic Design and Communication & Social Interaction. Throughout Daniela’s academic career, she has been active within the numerous organizations at SUNY Oswego. Since her freshman year, she has held the leadership role as head choreographer for the Latino dance team Ritmo. She was also an active constituent of the Latino Student Union. As she progressed into her junior year, Daniela served as Director of Public Relations as well as Ritmo Choreographer on the Latino Student Union Executive board. She also served as a member of Oz Leads, the purpose of which was to teach leadership styles, skills, and communication. This year, Daniela worked her way to being the President of the Latino Student Union. She is also a member of the cultural month planning committee as well as the ALANA planning committee.

Software Design (CSC480/HCI521) group
project
Date: Wednesday, May 10
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Livestream: https://goo.gl/1Vhv2s
The objective of this year’s project was to create a classroom clicker software called “Laker Polling.”

Laker Polling is a free, software-only polling system, which runs entirely in the browser, on regular computers as well as mobile devices. It allows for relatively simple class roster management and keeps track of attendance automatically. Instructors can choose to run polls live in class, show live results, or assign polls as “homework” quizzes.

The presentation will feature a discussion of the development process, the system’s capabilities, and will feature a live demo.
