SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station has invited area Girl Scouts to a free program of exploring nature from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
Participants can hike the trails and learn about the animals that inhabit the 400 acres of mixed terrain. Members of Alpha Phi Omega service organization and Rice Creek staff will lead several indoor and outdoor activities that will help girls earn badges.
Girl Scouts and accompanying adults, as well as family and friends, should register by Oct. 1. Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior levels are encouraged to attend. Troops will need to provide their own first-aid person. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
Rice Creek Field Station is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday; troops are encouraged to spend the day and to picnic in the pavilion.
The entrance road for Rice Creek is on Thompson Road, about a mile south of the main SUNY Oswego entrance on Route 104.
