Standing behind the first four international students (seated) to earn certificates in SUNY Oswego’s new year-round Intensive English Program are teachers, tutors, administrators, staff members and students currently enrolled in the program. The new program provides continuing opportunities to learn English via two 16-week semesters and two summer sessions -- four hours a day, five days a week -- of non-credit-bearing language and cultural knowledge. All of the students are encouraged to join clubs on campus and to otherwise seek out opportunities to enhance their English language skills. From left in front are Yahya Ibrahima Ndiaye of Senegal, who now will enter the electrical and computer engineering major at Oswego; Tianmeng Liu of China, psychology; Wenhuan Zhu of China, business administration; and Muhammadzohir Hidoyatov of Tajikistan, biology.
