The James A. Triandiflou ‘88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice hosted a discussion Oct. 20 in Marano Campus Center to explore some of the life experiences of SUNY Oswego community members of Latin or Hispanic descent. In the event, connected to Hispanic/Latin Heritage Month, panelists shared personal experiences related to the terminology of ethnic identity, such as “Latino,” “Latina” and “LatinX.” Leading the discussion are institute staff members Marquel Jeffries (far left), assistant coordinator, and Terrian Garvis, assistant director, with panelists Edito Ramos Palacios (seated), a student leader, with online presenters and alumnae Yadi Aranda Burgos, an admissions assistant; and Tiphanie Gonzalez, assistant professor in counseling and psychological services and mental health counselor.
