Fraternity and Sorority Life

Is Greek Life for ME?

Joining a Fraternity or Sorority is a life-long commitment that holds endless opportunities for those involved. When you become involved in fraternity and sorority life, you become part of a brotherhood or sisterhood which will introduce you to people you will remain in contact with long after you graduate from SUNY Oswego. For more information, head to our How To Join Page.

Participation in fraternity and sorority life will provide you with opportunities to further develop interpersonal, leadership and organizational management skills that are highly valued in the professional world.

If you are interested in joining any fraternity or sorority on campus, it is important to fill out an Eligibility Form -- this allows the school to verify that you meet the requirements outlined on the How To Join page.  Access the form by clicking below. [If you are interested in Formal Panhellenic Recruitment (National Sororities-Spring Only), you must register through their link (there is no need to do both.)

Friendship

You will form bonds that will last long after you graduate from SUNY Oswego through traditions, community service, and social events. You will leave campus with friends you call family.

Scholarship

Members provide support, advice, and community as you challenge yourself during your college years.  Between academic programs and support from those in your major, you can always count on someone in the Greek Community to offer guidance and point you in the right direction. Scholastic excellence is something we take pride in and are striving for in our Greek Community on campus!

Philanthropy

Greeks dedicate time, money and service to our campus and community.  Chapters have their own philanthropies and also come out in support of one another and the community at large.  As one of the pillars of Brotherhood and Sisterhood, community service and giving back is something we take pride in as Lakers and as Greeks.

Leadership

You develop real-world, marketable skills such as budgeting, networking, delegating, event planning, public speaking, and teamwork. These skills are highly sought after by employers, and Greek Life can help you build and grow as a leader and a professional!
