For out-of-the-area visitors, SUNY Oswego is located within 45 minutes of several public transportation hubs. Centro bus service runs regular routes between the SUNY Oswego campus and the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center in Syracuse, which connects with air, rail and bus transportation. In addition, Oswego's recent partnership with Zipcar means that members of this car-sharing service will have access to Zipcars on demand. The city of Oswego sits 35 miles north of Syracuse's Hancock International Airport and the Regional Transportation Center (providing bus and rail service). Oswego is 75 miles east of Rochester. Main thoroughfares directly to Oswego include routes 481 and 104.

Our college neighbors the friendly small city of Oswego. Known as the Port City, Oswego rose to prominence through its strategic location on Lake Ontario. Battles took place in Oswego Harbor during both the French and Indian War and the War of 1812. You can still see its historic heritage in such landmarks as Fort Ontario on the east side of the city, the countless homes that preserve the elegance of past centuries and downtown buildings that retain much of their 19th-century character.
