Six Oswego students were recently inducted into the SUNY Oswego chapter of Delta Phi Alpha, the National German Honor Society.
Sienna Witmer, Emily Parker, Michael Wruck, Hannah Cady, Evan Martonis and Ruthie Taber were honored for their outstanding academic achievement in German as well as for their participation in cultural events focusing on the German-speaking countries.
Witmer is a German major with a minor in economics from Alden. She will complete the spring semester abroad through Oswego’s partner university in Kempten, Germany.
Parker is a global and international studies major and a German minor from the Watertown area. She studied abroad in Kempten this year through Oswego’s summer program.
Wruck, a biology major and German minor from Cheektowaga, studied abroad in Kempten this year and will complete the spring semester through Oswego’s partner university in Osnabrück, Germany.
Cady is majoring in global and international studies and minoring in German. She also studied abroad in Kempten this year through Oswego’s summer program.
Martonis, an art major with minors in German and psychology, also studied in Kempten this summer through Oswego’s summer program.
Taber is majoring in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) and has minors in German and linguistics. She will study abroad next summer in Kempten through Oswego’s summer program.
Patrick Schultz and Ana Djukic-Cocks of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures welcomed the new members and thanked them for their dedication to German and its attendant cultures.
