The Office of Experiential Learning celebrated students that participated in various applied learning programs this year. Students were recognized for their dedication to programs including the Empire State Service Corps, internships, Focus Forward, Oswego Children's Project and First-Year Success Coaching.

Alex Herard, a graduating senior majoring in biology, won the inaugural "Experience Chameleon Leadership Award" for her participation in multiple experiential learning programs throughout her time at Oswego.

"Experiential learning is more than a program or a requirement — it’s a SUNY Oswego tradition that started with our founder, Edward Austin Sheldon," said Mallory Bower, director of experiential learning. "It’s a belief that learning doesn't stop at the classroom door. Through your experiences, you’ve used your skills to address real-world challenges, engage in meaningful conversations and participate in hands-on experiences that require curiosity, resilience and heart."

In addition to students, many site supervisors from the campus and the greater Oswego community were in attendance.

"Thank you to our community partners and site supervisors for offering not just guidance, but trust. Thank you for welcoming learners into your spaces with the kind of generosity that makes growth possible," Bower said.

Allison Rank of the Politics Department was recognized as the "Internship Supervisor of Impact" for her work with the Vote Oswego program.

Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) won an award for "Best New Internship Program" led by April Lopez, assistant dean of students.
