SUNY Oswego cinema and screen studies faculty members Tiffany Deater and Jarrod Hagadorn announced the release of the documentary they produced as part of a select group that will take part in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU)’s Stewardship of Public Lands program, an initiative of AASCU’s American Democracy Project.
The year-long Stewardship of Public Lands program fosters innovative regional collaborations, responsible stewardship practices and experiential learning by bringing a variety of higher education practitioners to Glacier National Park to collaborate on overlapping projects.
Their video recently went live on the Stewardship of Public Lands website and via AASCU's social channels. Producing content related to the initiative was a major focus of their participation, the couple noted in interviews this spring.
Twenty-two participants, representing 14 institutions from 12 states, applied strategies to spark thoughtful discourse and an appreciation of national parks within curricular and cocurricular opportunities for university students of all backgrounds. The design of the program is to build a diverse community of university faculty, staff and leaders who can promote access to national parks as grounds for studying sustainability, learning from Indigenous and community members, and building civic skills.
