SUNY Oswego will host "Getting Spicy with Sean Evans," featuring the popular YouTube star, at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 14, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall, Marano Campus Center.

Tickets are free for SUNY Oswego students, faculty and staff for this event, sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership.

Evans has two superpowers: interviewing celebrities and eating extremely spicy foods. Against the odds, he's managed to combine the two into the massively popular show "Hot Ones" on the First We Feast YouTube channel. Each week, Evans shares a plate of progressively spicier chicken wings with his celebrity guests, eliciting hilarious and honest answersfrom stars like Kevin Hart, Gordon Ramsay and Scarlett Johansson.

"Hot Ones" has spawned a worldwide base of 8+ million YouTube fans who post their own videos testing out their ability to take the heat.

Despite Evans' extreme tactics, "Hot Ones" guests respect his deeply researched questions and commitment to his craft. The Chicago native grew up studying heroes like David Letterman and Howard Stern — and gaining an appreciation for extra-hot salsa from his dad — before cutting his teeth as a Complex News host. His interviews with the likes of Allen Iverson and Manny Pacquiao made him a favorite on the sports-media circuit, and his willingness to try just about anything — including a day of The Rock's diet and fitness regiment — helped propel his online profile.

In addition to "Hot Ones," Sean is beloved by fans for his adventures in extreme eating, including surviving the world's hottest chile pepper, the Carolina Reaper, on two separate occasions.

At this event, Evans will have a moderated Q&A on stage, then invite Jason Shi, the proprietor of Wonzones Calzones in Oswego, as his special guest for an interview while sampling wings with Hot Ones branded sauce.

While tickets are free to SUNY Oswego campus members, they are not available to the general public due to expected demand. Each ticket holder must obtain their ticket from a campus box office using their Laker ID to validate college affiliation, as everybody will only be allowed to acquire one entry ticket.

Persons with disabilities needing accommodations to attend this event should contact the SUNY Oswego Office of Student Engagement and Leadership at 315-312-5420 or student.engagement@oswego.edu.
