The SUNY Oswego Office of International Education and Programs joins the celebration of International Education Week, Nov. 15 to 19, with various interactive events, a global vision board workshop and a live celebration with games, contests and food.

International Education Week celebrates the diversity of campus, as part of the many events throughout the year highlighting global topics and honoring culture from around the world. 

Highlights include:

Monday, Nov. 15:
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Education Abroad tabling in Penfield Library
    Stop by the information table in Penfield to discover more about study abroad and the programs available. Speak with Study Abroad Mentors at the table to learn more.
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: International student tabling event in Marano Campus Center
    International students will display posters with information about their home countries. Students are also welcome to dress in national clothing and to encourage those who pass by their tables to play fun games -- like trivia related to their home country or some other national game/pastime. This is an opportunity for international students to show some national pride and educate the broader campus community about who they are and where they come from.
  • 4 to 6 p.m.: International Student Association (ISA) tabling in Hart Hall  
    Stop by the information table in the lobby of Hart Hall to learn more about the International Student Association (ISA) and to register as a member of this student organization.
Tuesday, Nov. 16:
  • 5 to 7 p.m.: International Education Week Celebration in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court 
    SUNY Oswego’s Office of International Education and Programs invites you to celebrate international education during this fun interactive event. There will be food for attendees as well as an international bingo game with prizes for winners. The #HomeSweetOswego Photo Contest will also be displayed, showcasing some of our international students’ best snapshots in and around Oswego; vote for your favorite photo and the winners will receive prizes.

Thursday, Nov. 18:
  • 11 a.m. to noon: OPT workshop for international students
    Optional Practical Training (OPT) is post-graduation work authorization for F-1 visa holders which allows them to gain real-world experience related to their field of study. In this workshop, the International Student and Scholar Services Office will guide you on the steps necessary to prepare your OPT application. This session will be particularly useful for those international students graduating in December. Use this Zoom link to access this virtual session.
  • 7 to 8 p.m.: Find Your Global Vision - a virtual workshop event
  • Join Diversity Study Abroad Mentor Awa Dembele for a workshop on how to define your global vision by making a vision board. Dembele will share tips and tricks on how to set your goals, create a visual plan and make those dreams come true, For the virtual session, join live on a laptop if you can so that you can make your own vision board during the event. Use this Zoom link to join.
