The SUNY Oswego Office of International Education and Programs joins the celebration of International Education Week, Nov. 16 to 20, with virtual alumni and student panel discussions, global awareness programs, online games, and more.

International Education Week celebrates the diversity of campus, as part of the many events throughout the year highlighting global topics and honoring culture from around the world. Even with the pandemic placing restrictions on travel, the Office of International Education and Programs continues to connect students with virtual global experiences and internships, while planning for potential opportunities in the future.

Highlights include:

  • Fulbright International Program Info Session, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17: Learn more about these programs, which include grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English teaching assistant programs around the world.
  • International Alumni Panel: Post-graduation Options for International Students, 7 p.m. Nov. 17: Alumni working in their field or pursuing graduate study will talk about their experiences and how Oswego prepared them for what comes next.
  • Exchange Student Panel: Exploring the World from Oswego, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18: Each year, over 100 visiting exchange students from more than 60 different universities on five continents call SUNY Oswego their home away from home. This panel includes current and former exchange students.
  • Create a Study Abroad Vision Board with Awa, 6 p.m. Nov. 18: Join study abroad mentor Awa to learn how to make a vision board to get you inspired for study abroad and travel in the future. Awa spent a semester in the Czech Republic last fall. 
  • International Fashion Show, 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19: The International Student Association will host a virtual fashion show celebrating styles from across the globe. Participants are encouraged to show or wear a piece of meaningful or traditional clothing representative of their home country and culture.
  • Cultural Cooking Class, 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20: The Office of International Education and Programs will lead this class through Instagram Live at @Oswego.ISSS and @OswegoAbroad
  • International Codebreaker, 5 p.m. Nov. 20: The International Student and Scholar Services Office will close the week on a fun note via a global-themed guessing game using the universal language of emojis.

The week also will feature a variety of presentations on study destinations, programs, offerings, and more.
