SUNY Oswego men's hockey dropped a tough 3-1 NCAA tournament opening-round game to Hamilton on Saturday night. Wrestler Jordan Bushey finished fourth nationally to clinch All-American recognition in a busy weekend for Laker student-athletes.
Oswego (21-6-1) pulled to within 2-1 in the third period but allowed an empty-net goal before a last-minute flurry failed to put the puck in the Continental net.
Among three freshman wrestlers, Bushey secured an All-American honor. He suffered the first two losses in his 39-2 inaugural campaign but still impressed in his first NCAA tournament. Rocco Russo in the 157-pound division and Evan Corso in the 133-pound bracket wrestled gamely but have been eliminated from All-American contention at the NCAA championships in La Crosse, Wisc.
Ben Griffin of the men's track and field team claimed 10th place in the 800-meter run of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Naperville, Illinois.
