Today the SUNY Oswego community joins the rest of the nation in remembering the 19-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
As part of honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including 12 SUNY Oswego alumni (listed below), our campus will ring the carillon bells 19 times at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m., marking the exact times of the plane crashes that occurred at the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Flags on campus will also be lowered to half-staff today, in recognition of Patriot Day.
The 9/11 Memorial Garden (located on campus along the Glimmerglass Lagoon pathway) is dedicated to remembering those alumni lost 19 years ago:

SUNY Oswego's University Police once again took part (this morning at 6:30 a.m.) in the annual Silent Procession across Bridge Street, organized by the Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Department to honor the lives lost 19 years ago.
The college chapter of the American Marketing Association will present Lindsay Keller Nichols -- a 2000 graduate and vice president of marketing and communications for America's Charities -- at 5 p.m. today giving a virtual presentation on how the marketing and communication fields have changed since 9/11.
We encourage students, faculty and staff on campus to please take a moment to stop what you are doing when the bells ring this morning, and join the greater SUNY Oswego community in a moment of silence. Wherever you are, please join us in commemorating the attacks on our nation 19 years ago and remember the families, friends and Oswego alumni we lost that day and in the years that have passed.
