Renowned trumpet master Clay Jenkins will wrap up SUNY Oswego’s Ke-Nekt’ Chamber Music Series season at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom, which will include a collaboration with the Oswego Jazz Project.
Jenkins’ experience as a performer began at an early age, playing and recording with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and later touring with Buddy Rich, The Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and Count Basie Orchestra.
The musician and performer has played on over 100 recordings, released seven solo recordings under his name and as a co-leader has recorded with Gene Bertoncini, Kim Richmond and Don Aliquo.
For the Oswego concert, will perform original compositions and jazz standards with the Oswego Jazz Project faculty jazz group.
The Oswego Jazz Project serves as musical ambassadors for SUNY Oswego by educating as well as entertaining. In addition to their musical mastery, the group is known for a commitment to spontaneity and innovative improvisation.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for pre-concert talk with performers. The Ke-Nekt’ Chamber Music Series is presented by the Music Department and ARTSwego.
Tickets are free for SUNY Oswego students, $5 for non-SUNY Oswego students, $12 for faculty/staff/alumni and $15 for the general public, available via tickets.oswego.edu or any campus box office.
