Roatan, an island in Honduras, is just one of the many locations students can travel to through the study-abroad programs offered at SUNY Oswego. This opportunity allowed students to learn more about ways to address an ecological challenge while acquiring new skills.

This summer, 15 SUNY Oswego students traveled to Tanzania for the “Biodiversity and Conservation” study-abroad course led by biological sciences faculty members Susan Hammerly and Karen Sime, learning about the complex topic of conserving species while also partaking in an exciting adventure.

A new opportunity from SUNY's Office of Global Affairs resulted in 13 Oswego students receiving new Global Learning for All scholarships.

In late July, SUNY Oswego’s Office of International Education and Programs hosted 18 students and teachers from the SIS International School in Gwangju, South Korea. While the experience itself was fun for participants, it also represented the return of the Institute for Global Engagement Summer Global Partnership Programs, previously curtailed by the COVID pandemic.

SUNY Oswego, in partnership with Monroe Community College (MCC), recently received a federal grant to support study-abroad opportunities connected to the massive economic impact of Micron Technologies building in Central New York.

School of Business professor Dr. Barry A. Friedman continued his international teaching activities -- including a connection that could result in SUNY Oswego students traveling to Germany next summer.

Esfir Pievskaya, a double major in English and illustration, has earned a competitive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for an opportunity this fall in Italy.

Issac McGee, a graduate student majoring in business and marketing education, will continue a SUNY Oswego tradition as a finalist for the prestigious U.S. Student Fulbright English Teaching Award when he travels to the Czech Republic for several months.

December graduate Otis Gbala became the first SUNY Oswego alumnus who studied from Liberia, and served as the graduate banner presenter for December Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 16.
